This Summer and Things to Look Forward to

I CANNOT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS BREAK!  I am so excited because this summer I went to Buckeye Girls State, and that experience made my high school years. Yes it was nerve-racking at first rooming with a stranger, and not knowing the people near you because you were separated for the others that went to your school. I was nervous the first day, but I let my personality show. After the second day I never wanted to leave. This girls had become a huge part of my life. I became close to about four girls, but two I became best friends with. We exchanged numbers and we frequently talk to each other. This girls live close to each in communities near Dayton so we have talked and we are getting together. I cannot wait it has been so long! It is like going 6 months with out seeing someone really important to you. I still find it hard to believe that in a week these girls and I became so close. I just hate that we have to be far apart because if we were not I know we would do everything together. I also cannot believe the impact that program had on me. I learned some much while I was there, and I not only learned about the government but some truly amazing stories from some really strong girls that overcame big obstacles in their lives. One girl wrote me the sweetest note on the third day, and I still have it. When ever I feel down I look at this note and it picks me right up. Those girls that I met are not people you will ever forget that taught me so much, and I am so lucky I met each and everyone of them. They are true inspirations to me, and I know that they are true friends even if I did not get to know them for very long; they just portray that character. I hope that this bond we all have will last a lifetime because I am so blessed I got to meet them all!

  1. I was in the running for buckeye boys state this year but decided not to go. I wasn't nervous or anything, I just didn't have the time to go. I show animals at the fair so I felt that it was more important to be around them instead of going off for a couple of weeks. I heard that Buckeye state is really fun and an experience you'll have forever. I have always been interested in government but not to the point where I would want to do it for a career. I also cannot wait for Christmas break, but for completely different reasons. First of all, on the 19th I am finally getting surgery on my knee to get it fixed. I will be on crutches for only three days and have physical therapy after that. I will finally get to have an actual break off of school to where I won't have to worry about driving eighty minutes a day to class and doing homework every night. I contemplated taking off right after Christmas and going down to Florida to see my grandparents also; the main reason I want to do this is because I just turned eighteen and love the freedom to do stuff I couldn't do just merely days ago. We shall see how this goes and I will not be looking forward to going back to school!
