Career

As I am getting closer and closer to my high school graduation, I find it harder to decide what I want to do. I am still not sure if I want to stay at Rhodes to get my OTA and the go on, or go straight to Findlay to get my OT. I know I can do either because I am a hard working, and I know it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. it is just hard because most people question why I want to stay at Rhodes because of how good my grades are. Those people just do not understand that Rhodes maybe the better choice in the long run. Since I am a post secondary student I had the chance to get some of my class out of the way, but I know they can transfer. Also it comes down to money; I have been thinking would I rather spend $40,000 a year or around $4,000 a year. To me it is obvious, but to others my age they judge my decision. So I am trying to way the pros and cons of each. So far Rhodes is winning, but that could change. It really helps that they have one of the best OTA programs around this area.  I guess in the end it is all up to me. My dream is to be an OT and I am going to accomplish it no matter what. But I still have a lot of decision to make on how I get there, but in the end I know it will be all worth it.

  1. I hate making decisions. People always say your opportunities are endless; the problem with this is it causes us to have to make so many decisions. I glad to hear at least you know what career you want to go into. A lot of seniors in school still don’t know what career path they want to take. My counselor always said you will change your major at least five times. While it sounds okay saying this, you have to be careful because college is expensive. The great thing about Rhodes is, I am not totally breaking the bank to go to college. It does not mean Findlay is bad though, if you are determined to get a job in your field you will have no problem paying back your school expenses. The great part about Findlay is being able to move away and get the college experience. With going to Rhodes you have to stay home, and don’t get to meet as many new people. Even though I go to Rhodes I did make some new friends, and I don’t think I could be the type to live a college life style. I like how I have fewer distractions at home, and this allows me to stay focused on my studies. So in the end the decision is up to you. You have to know what you want to do, and remember don’t let anyone change your mind. You have to follow your heart, and in the end everything will work out. Good luck with the decision process.
