In class: Fun day in the class
Today we did something different, and I really enjoyed it! I am not a big gamer, but when it comes to random facts, and stuff over what we learned I am your girl! English is not my strong point, I will admit it, but it is more because of my writing skills. I am the type of person that can talk very properly, but not write it. This game was more of my thing than writing my papers. I read the chapters, but not in so much detail that I thought I would have to reflect upon it, but it was a nice challenge. I am really good at the paraphrase, summary, and quotes portion because last year in high school we had a whole class dedicated to writing a research paper, and in that class we went over the proper way to do those things so many things it just stuck with me. So when we started the game I knew that would be my strong, but I was was a little uneasy about the readings though. Lucky one of my members could recall a lot of the information on those readings. It was nice to do it this way I had not had a chance to talk to many of the people in the class, and this was a fun way to get to do that. I do have to say my group was really lucky by winning only by one point. I really enjoyed this class it add something different to this class.

I thought that class on Tuesday was great. It was a change up from our normal routine and I feel as I learned a lot more myself than I have in any other of our English classes we have had so far. I feel this way because it was more fun. I learn a heck of a lot easier when I am actually amused by what we are doing instead of just lectures and such. What makes our last class even better is the fact that our group earned five bonus points on our next essay that we turn in! (I am not sure what it is called...) As a group, which you were in also, I think that Professor Piro gave us more of an advantage over the other groups. Our answer were not extremely close to what she had in mind and she gave us majority of the answers anyway. I am glad that I decided to read a little bit of the passages right before class that we were suppose to read over break. I feel that the advantage went to us more so because we read the readings more recent than most people in our class. Maybe she might give us a couple more of these classes before the semester is over; then again, we do not have very many classes left which is also awesome! I cannot wait for Christmas break to get here either!
ReplyDeleteI was not there that day of class but I heard all about it. I absolutely love jeopardy and we would play it a lot in middle school and high school to learn things for an upcoming test. It was always so much fun because we were always really competitive so when it came to raising your hand first or slapping the desk first it was always a close call. If we could pick our groups we always knew who the smartest kids were so we would always try and get them on our team, and I was one of the smarter people so we would get on a team together and beat everyone. Finally teachers caught on and started picking our groups for us and we would moan and groan about our groups and who were in them but it made it just as fun because it was way more competitive because our groups were more equal. I think jeopardy is such a way to relax and enjoy the things you are supposed to learn because it is fun and interactive. We would always get ties and have to do double jeopardy and that got really bad when that happened because it got serious. Usually we would play for a prize like bonus points or candy, bonus points were more in high school and candy was in middle school because I mean who wouldn’t take it seriously if candy was on the line? Anyway, I think jeopardy is a great way to learn and I am sad I missed that day in class because I feel like it was some fun!
